    How are you REALLY?! A part of me loves the holid How are you REALLY?! A part of me loves the holiday season, and yet this year I am feeling more emotionally triggered than usual. The bonus part of feeling healthier, stronger, and safer in your own body while you learn to regulate your nervous system in a healthy way? For me, it’s been the ability to finally FEEL and work through many of the complex medical traumas I’ve had this time of year since I got the MS diagnosis in January eight years ago. I am grateful to be able to start to address these issues and heal them, but it’s also an exhausting work in progress. So I wanted to remind you all, it’s ok if you’re not feeling as festive as you’d like to this year. 🎄 The holidays can be both joyful and stressful. Beautiful and filled with grief.     The tradition of Hanukkah has always been based in The tradition of Hanukkah has always been based in hope and miracles. Now, more than ever, I hope that we will all work together to end the hate and darkness in this world so that we may come together in love and peace. I know it would be a miracle to see a cease fire and peace in the Middle East, but we have seen miracles before and I will continue to hold on to hope. ✨ Growing up with a Jewish father and a Catholic mother certainly gave me an interesting perspective on the world, religion, and the power of love and understanding instead of hate. ❤️ Wishing all of my family and friends celebrating a joyful Hanukkah. Gratitude isn’t simply faking happiness or a tool to bypass other emotions. As melrobbins said Gratitude is not a happiness pill. It doesn’t work like that. It’s also not a reason to accept a situation as it is when you know you want it to be better. True gratitude allows space for a full range of emotions. ✨Gratitude allows all of it to be true. I used to feel like the MS diagnosis defined me, because it affected every aspect of my life. Now, I have learned to become my own best advocate with the healthcare system and most importantly with myself, changing my perspective and rewriting my limiting beliefs around this diagnosis. As someone who grew up with a Jewish father and a Catholic mother, I had the unique opportunity to be exposed to both religions and cultures throughout my life.     What’s scary about this post?! 😨 The obscene What’s scary about this post?! 😨 The obscene amount of time and energy it took for me to get my first dose of #Mayzent, my new disease modifying therapy for the multiple sclerosis diagnosis I received nearly 8 years ago. Of course, if you’re familiar with chronic illness and the crapshoot that is the US insurance and medical system, you’re probably not at all surprised. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And if you’ve ever tried to get a time sensitive delivery from fedex you also probably aren’t surprised at how utterly useless and irresponsible they are… but I digress.🤬 After deciding to switch from Ocrevus (which was very hard on my body) to Mayzent with my Neuro back in August, I had hoped to start on Mayzent in September🙄. But extra tests, delays, insurance issues, and then fedex messing up my delivery of the temperature controlled medication… I was able to take my first dose yesterday UNDER THE SUPERVISION of a doctor. And yes, she was lovely, but it was super weird to be observed in my own home for 7 hours 🤣🤣🤣 Although better than days of steroids and hours of being stuck to an iv 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thankfully, I didn’t have any heart related complications (the medicine can slow your heart rate esp when you’re adjusting, and mine did slow but not to a dangerous point) so that’s a win. Now I continue to take a little more each day till I get to the full 1 milligram dose (some people take 2 milligrams).     DMT update: last month, i shared that with my doct DMT update: last month, i shared that with my doctors approval, I am switching from #Ocrevus infusions to the daily pill, Mayzent. 💊 I had hoped to be starting the new medicine pill this week, but surprise, I am still waiting on more approvals from my insurance and this past week they sent a nurse to my home to do an eye exam (checking for macular degeneration, ECG, and blood draw). It was all painless and quick, and I’m hoping to have an update on when I can start within a week. Given my history of allergic reactions to medications, they’re requiring me to be “observed” for six hours after I take my first dose 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🙄 sooo they send a doctor to my house to stare at me 😂 but, it’s better than being stuck to an IV pole all day! While ocrevus “worked well” for me, my body did not enjoy it. I had to take five days of oral prednisone prior to each infusion plus extra pre-meds and get my IV extra slowly. I have been feeling better than ever, physically and mentally the past six months, and I feel confident that now is the right time for my body to switch. 💪🏻 When I was having trouble getting my last infusion scheduled in February, I had an extreme anxiety about delaying the medication, and how that might negatively affect my house, but now, after I’ve broken through those limiting beliefs related to my health, and my future….I am at ease with knowing that it will happen in the right time, and that I am strong and capable. So it’s a hassle, but I’m not letting it worry or stress me out!🙌 Anyone else switched to Mayzent? Autopilot is based on your experiences from the past, or your perspective of a reality and may not be true.
