What would you compare your healing journey to? What would you compare your healing journey to?

I love the analogy that healing is like coming home after being caught in a rainstorm. You can’t immediately get warm, cozy and dry… it’s a process. But you will get there, just keep taking the small steps towards your goal ❤️

Three years ago today, I moved out of the husband Three years ago today, I moved out of the husband I shared with my now ex-husband, and into an apartment on my own.

It was one of the hardest but best things I’ve ever done in my life. Letting go of my marriage of a decade and many other people who weren’t meant to be in my life anymore has been a hell of a process.

But I’m healing, learning, growing, and LOVING my life. And most importantly, I haven’t let my divorce experience turn me into a less loving or kind person. ❤️

Have you reassessed the quality of the people and relationships in your life lately?

#ThrowbackThursday, February at my last Ocrevus in #ThrowbackThursday, February at my last Ocrevus infusion, vs. yesterday. I was originally scheduled for my infusion yesterday, but I cancelled because I advocated to change my treatment plan 🙌

Now that I’ll be starting Mayzent (a daily pill Multiple Sclerosis disease modifying therapy), I was able to spend yesterday living my life!

I took advantage of not being stuck to an IV pole all day, and worked out in my new apartments pool, which is like a resort oasis 😍

I was also able to work, do some things around my new apartment, and do a little shopping. So basically a normal good day, and no steroid crash for me today either 🎉🎉

Thank you all for the love and support as I’m changing my MS management plan, I appreciate it more than you know.

💜Do you all want to see more of my new place and how it’s coming together??

My shirt in the throwback pic is from changecadet and reads “my existence is resistance”
Breaking news (at least it was for me!), you’re Breaking news (at least it was for me!), you’re allowed to advocate to change your medication if you feel that it’s no longer the best option for your health (and your life)! Yes, even if it’s technically not failing you. 🤯

While I’ve been on Ocrevus to slow the progression of the Multiple Sclerosis since 2019 (and yes I’ve had two flare ups during that time, but it hasn’t been deemed “ineffective” for me by my doctors), I advocated for myself with my neurologist and will be switching to Mayzent (a daily pill) instead starting mid September.

Ocrevus is “only” twice a year, but it has been extremely hard on my body. My personal protocol has been to take five days of oral prednisone steroids beforehand as well as the traditional IV pre-meds and go at a slower infusion rate so that I don’t break out in hives and risk anaphylaxis 🫣 Suffice it to say, my body hasn’t been thrilled with it.

I am physically and mentally feeling the best I have since before my diagnosis, reducing the amount of Dysport (botox) I get for my movement disorder #Dystonia and now changing MS disease modifying therapy medications to hopefully be able to reduce the negative effects on my body overall.

If you live with a diagnosis like Multiple Sclerosis, you know any change in medication can be risky, and I won’t pretend that I haven’t felt anxiety about this, but I now have more FAITH in myself and my body than I do FEAR. 🙌

I am grateful to have a medical team that listens to my concerns and was supportive of my desire to alter my treatment plan, but if you don’t have that privilege, please keep advocating for yourself and get another opinion if possible! We are constantly taking “best guesses” with the info we have on our health, but we know our bodies the BEST.

Has anyone else switched from Ocrevus to Mayzent? Or if you’re a Mayzent patient, I’d love to hear your experience! ❤️

And a special thanks to the close friends who have supported me through this healing journey and big change to my how I manage my healthcare. 🫶

Change can be challenging, even when it’s for th Change can be challenging, even when it’s for the best, don’t you think?

In a full circle moment, I said goodbye to my first apartment in Raleigh today, exactly one year after arriving from CA and my Gram’s funeral. I remember feeling extremely grateful that my apartment was fully furnished and that my dear friend Jen heartofpeacewellness and her family had graciously brought all of my things down here. ❤️I wasn’t nearly as healthy (mentally or physically) as I am now and it was such a relief. This place served me well, but I am SO ready for a change and my new apt! 🫶

To support me through this change, I’ve been wearing my Botswana Agate necklace, from one of my favorite companies soulku. It is infused with love and helps to ease stress during times of transition and change. ❤️

#Soulku was founded in 2011 by two stav-at-home moms. Allison and Elisa. who wanted to be in service and change the world 🙌 If you want to save 20% on your next purchase from their stunning line of gemstone jewelry, you can use code BBJen20 and the link in my bio. ✨

What makes your house feel like a home? I thought What makes your house feel like a home?

I thought it was fitting that the first thing I hung up in my new apartment was the “Life is An Adventure” sign that belonged to my Gram. When I was in California for her funeral a year ago, I took a box of items that remind me of her and her home, which was always my happy place as a kid. ❤️

It hung on the patio in my first apartment in Raleigh so I wanted it to be on the patio here too. It makes me smile, and it’s a perfect reminder and motto 🫶

Thank you all for the love on my last post sharing that I’m officially staying here in Raleigh (at least for a year).

I can’t wait to show you how my apartment comes together and share more about my life and healing journey since I’ve been here. While moving is stressful, I’m still grateful to share that I’m feeling better then ever. 🙌

August has historically been a time for big change August has historically been a time for big changes in my life. ⚡️

Three years ago, I separated from my ex husband of a decade.

Two years ago, I officially signed my divorce papers.

Last year, I took a major leap of faith and moved to a brand new city with no family or close friends, Raleigh NC from my hometown state of MA. 🤞🏼

This year, I’ve decided to move out of “temporary” housing and plant some real roots here in RALEIGH! I’ve got a fab new apartment downtown and I can’t wait to show it to all of you. 🎉🎉🎉

This past year has been incredibly healing for me and I can’t wait to see how much more fun and growth I can experience this year.

Stay tuned as I show you around, and get the chance to make it the space my own! What are your favorite apartment must haves???? 🏙️

When you’re going through a hard time so many pe When you’re going through a hard time so many people will leave. But, I’ve learned that in many ways, you’re better off without them. Yet, a few rare friends will stay with you through those dark patches and be there to remind you of how much you’ve grown and how capable you are when you can’t see it for yourself.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just a few days before I was due for my quarterly dystonia shots in my feet, my friends who are like family visited me here in Raleigh. And thanks to my commitment to my OWN healing, I was able to have an amazing time with them. Taking my now 13 year old niece to sephora for her bday was a dream come true, and driving my Godson on the go karts was fun I’ll never forget. 🥰

But being able to walk, unassisted and in the southern heat, and laugh and play with my friends was truly priceless. melissatroisi looked at me at one point and said it felt like “she got me back”…. Well, sort of, I’m not the old me. I’m a hell of a lot better now, emotionally and physically. 🙌

No, I’m not cured and this week with a delay from my doctors office for my shots has been a hell of a struggle, but I’m still reminded of how much healthier and stronger I am physically and mentally than I was even one year ago. 🎉

I know I’ve been quiet this last year, but now that I’m learning to put myself first and rewrite my limiting beliefs I’m reclaiming my story and life. And I hope you’ll stick around as I share more of it ❤️

What if you were kind to yourself and others, jus What if you were kind to yourself and others, just for today?

Two weeks ago, I had the honor of experiencing a Reiki attunement from my friend and Reiki Master Jen of heartofpeacewellness ☀️
While I don’t have plans to become a professional reiki master practitioner, I will say that reiki has been extremely helpful in my healing journey over the past two years. Have you experienced it?

As Garry Malone said “Reiki is not just a tool for healing is the starting point for personal development and self discovery. As you progress along your new path, inevitably you will come up against obstacles and setbacks in your life that often seem like the whole ocean front, but with Reiki you will have the strength to deal with them as though they are but pebbles on the beach.

Even if you never use Reiki to heal anyone but yourself, you will find a new sense of balance and peace in your life.”

Reiki Principles 💜

Just for today, I will not WORRY...
Just for today,
I will not be ANGRY...
Just for today, I will be GRATEFUL...
Just for today,
I will do my work HONESTLY....
Just for today,
I will be KIND to every living thing.

What kind of life do you want? What will you do What kind of life do you want?

What will you do with it?

For many years after my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, I was afraid to dream BIG. I was afraid to go after I wanted, to dream about feeling better, or living a life that’s different. 🫣

Now, I know my limiting beliefs were holding me back much more than my disease diagnosis was. Watch out world, there are big things ahead (slowly but surely) ⚡️

How will you spread your light today? ☀️ “T How will you spread your light today? ☀️

“This is a little reminder that the light you bring to the world is needed so much more in times of darkness. Please keep sharing your generous heart without fear.

There are so many people out there who rely on the magic you create and the kindness you spread. You could be the reason someone smiles today, the reason someone pauses and takes a deep breath.

You never know who needs to be touched by a heart like yours, so please keep spreading your light.”
